ABOUT
rsWAP
Hi, and welcome to rsWAP! THANK YOU for choosing to read this, since I'm sure there are millions of other things you could be doing right now :)
What is rsWAP? It is a mobile website for your phone. All you do is open your web browser on your phone, type in http://waptoys.com, and then you basically have access to hundreds of ringtones for free. We are primarily a ringtone website, but offer other content such as screensavers, backgrounds, sound effects, games, jokes, themes, and other multimedia-- everything for free. All you do is click on the site, and it will download directly to your phone, ready to be used!
The first thing I would like to share with you is how rsWAP was created. Long time ago I was the owner of the VM-A680. I loved that phone, and the only content I could find for my phone, at the time, was at 3gforfree. That website was great, and I liked it the best because it was so simple. You visit the website, and the downloads are right there. No ads, no sign-ups, not a lot of graphics, it was AWESOME! After a while I decided to upgrade, and as I've already mentioned, I now have the SCP-8400. Naturally, this new hi-tech phone unlocked many multimedia doors, and I went on a quest to find downloads for it. I did find a few good websites... but first I had to read through their introduction to see how it worked, look at how the website was setup, and in the end even register (to a website I really knew nothing about, but you HAD to if you wanted to download). Then I found out there was a basic membership, premium membership, different member titles, 3-star member, 5-star members, and each member title unlocking different things! Pfff... all I want is a ringtone! After I was done with one website, I browsed to the next... and it was much different, yet same complexity. Then it came to me: Ryan, just make your own website! So, my new quest was "how?" I researched on how I could code the website, how to setup MIME types, what formats I could use, ringtone quality vs ringtone size, and of course how all that eventually works on my phone. This was supposed to be a "personal" website for me to store my ringtone creations on there, and now, as you can see, it has become the new homepage for many mobile phones... many SCP-8400's. I wanted to make a site I knew was 100% compatible with what I have. I hate downloading something and then only 60% of all that stuff works, and then in the end my phone would be messed up on top of that. Since this is my website, all content goes through several checks to make sure it does no harm to my, and now your little phone.
This brings me to the premise of rsWAP. I wanted a simple, easy to use, right to the point website. Period. During my web design I always kept in mind the things I loved and hated about other sites, and basically I wanted a site like I had known and used... 3gforfree. There will be no member status, no requirements, no ads, no banners, no *required* sign ups.... you can come when you want, get what you want, and leave whenever you want. With no more than TWO CLICKS you can download a ringtone... that is like SO EASY! You do have to *register* for games and applications, but that is just so games/apps can't be indexed by search engines (because the search engines therefore don't have access), which means you will never find rsWAP for its games or apps online, but rather through a referral or link on some other website, or a ringtone search. Also, all the additional pages on here are additional, which means you can come and download whatever, but if you want to spend more time on rsWAP, and perhaps learn more about it, you can read through my notes, FAQ, top downloads, etc... but I don't make you (like again, some other websites do).
OK, what's in it for me? Why offer all of this for free, exclude all options to have dedicated members (with a ranking based on how many posts they submitted lol)... nothing to make them keep coming back? The answer is so simple: I'm not doing this for you to come back or because I have to... I'm doing this because...
through the song requests I get to know many bands/singers I've never even heard of and I actually really like some of them
it makes me happy to see others enjoy something I've created
I'm a web designer... this is a website, and the traffic shows that I've done something successful
I think ringtones are much too expensive
Back to the membership though, I am thinking about making a page with all the users and maybe two or three sentences about what they do in life. I think this would be a great opportunity to see who is out there, and maybe you can even get to know someone and learn more about them. This would be really cool!
If I've forgotten to mention something here, you can reach me via feedback!
